Only a week until Pisa Book Festival! After a successful kick-off of the CELA festivaltour at Hay Festival Segovia in Spain, six new duo's of emerging writers and emerging translators will travel to Italy to take the stage at our second stop.
Pisa Book Festival is one of the largest and most dynamic book festivals in Italy and is dedicated to Italian independent publishing houses. Every Autumn it brings to Pisa publishers, writers, translators, illustrators, Italian and foreign artists. This year, the festival draws special attention to Spain and it's publishing industry for the Guest of Honor Country programme with special events dedicated to the literature of the country.
On Friday 9 November, at 6 in the evening, writer Andrei Crăciun (Romania) and translator Maria Alampi (Italy), writer Joost Oomen (the Netherlands) and translator Antonio De Sortis (Italy), and writer Mariana Torres (Spain) and translator Valeria Parlato (Italy) will talk with literary professional Beatrice Bellina about their work and bridging the gaps between European makers and the public, and there will be a live performance by Luca Murphy and Vanni Santoni.
On Saturday 10 November, at 4 in the afternoon, writer Maud Vanhauwaert (Belgium) and translator Antonio De Sortis, writer José Gardeazabal (Portugal) and translator Francesca Leotta and writer Roberto Osa (Spain) and translator Valeria Parlato (Italy) will be on stage with literary professional Beatrice Bellina. Luca Murphy and Luca Ricci will also give a live performance.
That's not all: on Saturday 10 November you can also meet two of our Spanish writers in the video room! Mariana Torres will be there at 10.00 am and you can meet Roberto Osa at 11.00 am.
CELA (Connecting Emerging Literary Artists) offers a European context to a new generation of writers, translators and literary professionals. Starting in September 2018, the CELA artists take stages all across Europe to sit side by side on stage, revealing the joys, and sorrows, of telling the same story differently. After Pisa Book Festival, different duo’s take the stage at Wintertuinfestival (The Netherlands), Tinto no Branco - Festival Literario (Portugal), Passa Porta Festival (Belgium), Lev - Literature em Viagem (Portugal) and Book Fest (Romania)
