Martina Kutková studied Hebrew philology and Spanish translation at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. She is currently finishing her doctoral
degree programme in Translation studies at the same faculty, focusing on Czech translations from Judeo- Spanish. She has so far translated Spanish short stories by Maria Vargas Llosa and Rita Indiana for the literary supplement Literární noviny for Svět knihy (Book World Prague) and has published other translations in the literary magazine A2 and on the
website of the Prague Writers’ Festival. She has also translated for the Mexican Embassy in the Czech Republic and between 2016 and 2021 she worked at the Jewish Museum in Prague. She is currently a freelance translator and book editor and collaborates with various Czech publishing houses , mostly with Academia and Leda.
